Graduate Student Health and Dental Plans

Welcome to your We Speak Student Health and Dental Plan!

The UNB GSA Health & Dental plan is a service available to all full-time Graduate Students at UNB (Fredericton & Saint John). This plan includes prescription, extended health, dental, and travel coverage, all for a low cost of $605 for the entire year. Please visit the We Speak Student website for information on your coverage. You can also download booklets and forms, opt out, add family members, submit a claim, and view the services that accompany the plan.

The Fall 2020 opt-out period begins on September 1st, 2020 and ends on September 30th, 2020. Opt-out information from previous years does not carry over so remember to opt-out in time. Students may also add their family online through the We Speak Student website. For information regarding the GSA Health & Dental insurance plan opt-out/in please visit the We Speak Student website.

Financial Services will not be removing fees from Student Accounts until after the opt-out/in period has ended and the list has been verified. Students are required to opt-out/add family each year, in September, for their duration of their time enrolled as a full-time student.

The Policy periods are listed below, please note that the Saint John Policy year (for MBA students) runs October – September.

GSA Health and Dental Fees

The fees included in the below tables are inclusive of the Student Accessibility Program (SAP) and the administration fee of $25/student for the Health and Dental plan and $12.50/student for either the Health or the Dental Plan. The fee also includes the HST collected on the administration fee and other fees such as the Students Accessibility Program. (SAP) GSA HST number: 816786242RT0001

How to Opt Out

If you already have extended health and dental coverage, you are able to opt-out of the health and dental plan provided by the UNB GSA.

  1. Go to https://wespeakstudent.com/home/81-unb-graduate-students-
  2. Click Opt Out.
  3. Enter your Student ID number. Click ‘I Agree’ and Next.
  4. Fill out all required information.
  5. Provide ‘Proof of required coverage’ – Insurance company, policy number, primary subscriber.
  6. Review your information.
  7. Print Confirmation for your records.
  8. You will receive an email in the account you have provided verifying your form has been submitted.

Announcements.

Yesterday, the final report of the President’s Taskforce and its recommendations were presented at the Senate meeting. The GSA took part in the president’s task force and presented the recommendations based on the survey of Graduate Student Funding. The GSA is appreciative that the report has been submitted for implementation and that the recommendations are a great start to fixing the funding situation for Graduate students at UNB….

February 4th, 2019 marked the kick off start to our Provincial Lobby week.  Graduate Student Association is working closely with Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) to present the needs of NB students to members of Legislative Assembly in order to spark action.
